Jenny Arnold is our June 2009
'Competitor of the Month'. We
are very proud of Jenny because
she had retired from fitness
competitions for ten years to
focus on raising a family. She
stayed in the fitness industry,
though. She even opened her own
gym called, Jenny Arnold
Movement. Opening up her own
gym tried and tested her
thoughout, until she finally got
it open. Anything that could
happen to her, happened. But,
she stayed focused and reached
her goals.
At the age of 45, after ten
years of retirement, she came
out and brought down the house
at the FAME Competition!
She brought home over 6 titles
from one show, with 2 being
first place! We are very proud
to honor her with this title,
because she has accomplished so
much in this industry!
WP:
Jenny, let’s begin with you
telling our viewers a little
about yourself.
JA: Thank you for such an
honor. I was born in Sydney,
Australia. I am a true-blue
Aussie Girl. My Parents, Rex and
Bev Warren, and my two older
brothers, Stephen and Graeme,
always told me I could do
anything I put my mind to. I
believed them and I always have
put my heart and soul into
everything I have achieved.
Notice I said OLDER brothers.
Ha-ha! And yes, I was ‘Daddy’s
Little Girl’.
WP: What has been your
stepping stone to get where you
are today?
JA: My stepping stone has
always been my parents. Their
rock-solid faith in God and the
confidence they gave us has
always been my stepping stone.
They were not just my stepping
stones, but they were and still,
are my rocks!
WP: What has it been like
to maintain your physique? Have
you done anything different
lately?
JA: Well, I have always
maintained my physique. However,
after deciding to step back on
Stage with FAME and compete
again after retiring ten years
ago to have my family, I
definitely had to step up my
training with sprint training,
Plyometrics, and jump training.
I had just a few things to
change.
WP: That was amazing how
you came out of retirement after
10 years! You came out with a
bang! Tell me about your first
competition back after 10 years!
JA: I just finished
competing at the Fame
Prairies in Calgary on April
25th, 2009. I placed 1st in
Figure Physique and 2nd in
Figure Physique Masters. I took
2nd in Fitness Model Open and
3rd in Fitness Model Masters. I
took 1st in Muscle Model Open
and 2nd in Muscle Model Masters.
It was so great to be competing
again. The competition was
hosted by two-time World Body
Building Champion, Derrick
Brown. Jeff, The Head Judge,
Founder, and President of FAME
had a really tough job, as well
as all the FAME Athletes! They
were in great shape.
WP:
Wow! You are the talk of the
industry! We're so proud of you!
Are you planning to compete
again in the future?
JA: Absolutely! I am
competing at the ‘World’s’ in
Montreal on June 12th and
looking forward to competing
with FAME for the next 5 years.
So look out; this Aussie Girl is
back and aiming for that Pro
Card! Ha-ha!
WP: With your
determination, you'll get that
Pro-Card! No doubt! Where do you
reside now?
JA: I live in beautiful
British Columbia. Maple Ridge,
Canada.
WP: What other sports or
activities did or do you enjoy?
JA: My background comes
from Gymnastics and Spring Board
Diving. I have always loved to
throw myself around. Now, O.K,
It’s that getting ‘old’ thing,
you know! Ha-ha! Tennis is my
thing, now. I love tennis!
WP: I don't want to hear
anything about 'that getting old
thing'! You just proved you
aren't old! Tell me about your
family.
JA: I am happily married
with two amazing children. My
husband, Alfred, also has
started competing with Fame and
will also be competing at the
World’s. My son, Alique, is 8
years old. He is totally happy
to watch. My daughter, Deja, is
6 years old and she is itching
to get up on stage. Like mother,
like daughter. Ha-ha.
WP: The entire family is
getting into fitness! That's is
so great! Alfred is competiting,
too? Awesome! What has competing
taught you thus far?
JA: Hmmm, that’s a tough
question. I would have to sum it
up with one word; Balance.
Balance of physique, diet, and
presentation.
WP:
Never thought of it like that
before, but that is so true!
What was the hardest thing for
you to overcome when you first
started back to competing?
JA: The hardest thing to
overcome is getting everything
done in my day that I need to
with out it interrupting my
Family. Ugh! There is that
balance thing, again. But, you
just do it, and move on.
WP: What was the hardest
thing you had to deal with when
it came to your diet?
JA: Oh, nothing at all! I
never struggle with anything...CARBS!!!!
Are you kidding me?! Ha-ha! I
struggle the most with my carb
proportions.
WP: You have me laughing
so hard right now! Oh my! No!
What makes me think you would
have to stuggle with anything.
It all just comes so easily,
huh? Ha-ha! What are the key
factors that dictate the way you
train today?
JA: The key factors that
dictate the way I want to train
are my goals. I want to work
hard and compete; not just to
obtain my Pro Card, though. I
want to be a role model to all
my clients, as well as, market
my business, Jenny Arnold
Movement.
WP: You do that just
perfectly, Jenny! How has your
training changed over the years?
JA: Wow, I have to say,
my training has changed and
evolved, just like the fitness
industry. I will say this; my
training is never set. I mix up
my training and have a very high
variety of movement.
WP: Where do you see your
career and life in 10 years from
now?
JA: I see my career and
life in ten years doing what I
so passionately do now! Teaching
my clients that health and
fitness is a way of life. Muscle
knows no age! It only knows
activity!
WP: What supplements do
you currently take?
JA: I take Whey Isolate
Protein, Glutamine, Udos Oil and
my Foundation; Juice Plus. Juice
Plus is raw fruits and
vegetables in capsule form.
WP: What are your pet
peeves?
JA:
My pet peeves are impatient
people and disrespect of the
elderly!
WP: Ooh, I'm one of your
pet peeves! I am so impatient!
But, I'm working on it! Ha-ha!
What do you consider to be
important in life, and why?
JA: God is the most
important in my life. Without
him, nothing makes any sense. My
family is extremely important to
me. I love them very much and I
thank God for them every day.
WP: How have you changed
over the past few years when it
comes to thinking, actions, and
life in general?
JA: I definitely have to
say that I have mellowed. I
don’t get as upset as easy. I
let things go and move on. I
don’t waste my energy on
negative things. I make them a
positive. Yes, I know it’s the
O….L….D… thing, again.
WP: Well, if you mellow
age you get 'old', I should be
almost asleep from being so
mellowed! Ha! What are your
stats such as height, weight,
biceps, and waist?
JA: I am 5 feet and 7
inches tall, blonde hair, and
green eyes. Chest: 39, Waist:
24, Hips: 34.
WP: Any shout outs?
JA: Absolutely! To my Mom
and Dad in Australia. My
Brother, Graeme and His Family.
My Husband, Alfred, and my son,
Alique, and daughter, Deja. I
love you all so much and thank
you for all the love and
support. And, to my Heavenly
Father. I thank Him for all the
blessings he has given us. Tammy
Renee’, a big thank you, Tammy.
Thank you for this wonderful
opportunity. Love your Aussie
Girl and Mate!
WP:
Awww, you gave a shout out to
me! You know we all love you,
Jenny! You are very speical to
me and always have been. Stop
with the mushy! Yuck! Give me an
example of your workout.
JA: Wow! My work outs are
so varied. I do everything form
weight training, to sprint
training, Plyometrics training,
Tae Bo, Pilate’s Circuit
Training, and Minute Training.
It just depends what goal I am
wanting to achieve, and what day
it is. Ha-ha!
WP: Give me an example of
your diet. What do you normally
eat each day?
JA: My diet is pretty
much the same, which is very
clean.
Breakfast: Protein Pancakes or
Oatmeal.
Snack: Protein Shake + Snack.
Lunch: Chicken or Fish, Brown
Rice and Salad.
Snack: Protein Shake + Snack.
Dinner: Chicken or Fish and
Veggies and or Salad.
Water: 4 liters. That’s
basically it.
WP: Could you tell me
about your future projects?
JA: I am just focusing on
my business, Jenny Arnold
Movement, and also my
competitive career with Fame.
They truly are an amazing
association who are definitely
breaking new ground in the
fitness industry. Jeff and Mindy
have introduced a Trainer’s
Award, which I was honored to
receive one at the Fame West in
March. Fame doesn’t only give to
their Athletes, but they also
give back to the Trainers and
Choreographers. This is awesome,
as you know Tammy, behind every
great athlete, there is a great
trainer and behind every great
routine is a great
Choreographer. Giving credit
where credit is due makes me
very proud! So, my next project
is to go after my Pro-Card. So,
watch out for me, Tammy, on the
Fame World Tour.
WP: You know I'm going to
be watching! Is there anything I
have forgotten to mention that
you would like to bring to
light?
JA: No! I think we have
covered it all. I’d like to give
just another thank you, Tammy
and the World Physique Team, for
this Great opportunity. Love
your Aussie Girl, Jen.
WP: Good luck in
everything! Keep me updated on
what you are doing and how you
are doing it. Put your red cape
back on and get out there and
save the world!
